Taste: Chimes Ginger Chews

Globe and Mail Update

If you love ginger - and who doesn't considering its myriad ameliorative properties, from aiding digestion to freshening breath to relieving the pain of arthritis - then you're gonna love Chimes Ginger Chews.

These bite-size, chewy candies come in three flavours: peppermint ginger, peanut butter ginger, and our favourite, the original pure ginger chew.

Each individually wrapped candy contains only 16 calories (14 to a tin) and enough ginger-generated heat to warm up a winter's day. One fan describes them as "a mouthful of music."

And when you've chewed your heart out, you're left with a cute little pressed-tin container, perfect for storing paperclips, buttons or even exotic cigarettes. We actually found one of the tins for sale on eBay for 99 cents.

$3.95 at the Bank Café in Creemore, Ont., or online at www.chimesgourmet.com.
